When I was a young child back in the 1950’s one of my very favorite pastimes was playing with my Tinkertoy Construction Set. I would wile away the hours all by myself building all manner of bizarre creations that never really amounted to much. The monstrosities that I constructed certainly did not resemble the magnificent creations some kids could come up with. But I really did not care. I guess I simply did not have the aptitude for such things. For me my Tinker Toys were pure and simple fun. And I can assure you that my parents greatly appreciated a toy that would keep me occupied for hours at a time.
When I look around today I see all of the sophisticated electronic gadgets that 5 and 6 years olds have avaliable to them. I honestly doubt that they are going to give these children the pure joy that this simple wooden construction set gave me and my friends so many decades ago. In fact, Tinker Toys have been around for nearly a century now. It is a formula tried and true. So if you are the parent of a young child do yourself and your child a favor and consider the simple gift of a Tinkertoy Construction Set. I suspect that when the batteries have died and you child has become bored with his or her electronic toys they just might go back to their Tinker Toys. Isn’t that usually the way?? Very highly recommended!

Tinker Toys for our smart cat!
I thank Amazon.com for the excellent service. PLEASE remove any negative feedback for the service afforded me by the seller. The item was scheduled for delivery Jan. 2. Unfortunately, the receiving room of my husband's office, to which it was to be shipped, was closed Jan. 2, the day after New Year's. I was asked for feedback on Jan. 3, but could only write that I could not comment because I'd not yet received the item.
This reflected negatively on the seller, and was in no way her problem. Please correct this.

My 4 year old loves them
I suggested to my sister that she purchase TinkerToys for my son for his 4th birthday. My son can sit there for a long long time and play with them.
We havent had any problem with breakage (and my son is ROUGH with his toys. Some of the pieces fit together tightly but after a while, they loosened up.

This is a fun and educational toy. Helps to develop small motor skills. Adults love it too. Too bad that more pieces don't come in a set. It is quite expensive.

Our other memory games look like a regular deck of standard playing cards printed on exceptionally thin paper. My 3 and 5 year old kids have a hard time grabbing the cards off of a tabletop to flip them, so after a dozen or so games, the cards are creased and frayed at the edges. Not a major concern, but an annoyance that slows down game play.
The eeBoo game solves this problem using tiles of a completely different design: the faces are printed on pressed cardboard squares roughly 2 inches wide and an eighth of an inch thick. The difference is striking: by shrinking the size and increasing the depth, the tiles are easily gripped by small hands. Games moves faster and the tiles hold their shape over time.
And I can confirm what most of the other reviews have made clear: the faces are cute and encourage curious minds to expand their geographic horizons. Guaranteed smiles the first time a new face is flipped over. Great family fun for all.

Great Educatioal Game
Our granddaughter loves this game as well as my wife and I. What a fun way to have hours of fun with the grandkids.
Fun memory/geography game
This is a fun "go fish"-style memory game, where players choose from a number of face-down tiles trying to match up pairs of faces of children from a wide variety of countries. Only a couple dozen countries are included, but they run a wide swath of cultures -- Asian, African, European, South and North American, with differences accentuated by having most of the kids dressed in traditional clothes (instead of FuBu and Nike, which is what they probably really are all wearing... :-)
The rules are simple, making this ideal for younger players, while the multi-ethnic parade of faces and exotic locales will stimulate the imagination. Plus, I'm a big fan of picturebook author Lizzie Rockwell's artwork, which is particularly appealing here. Recommended! (Joe Six, ReadThatAgain children's book reviewer)
Classic game, SUPERB QUALITY.
This classic game has been issued hundreds of times and by so many toy manufacturers before. But this company has been making them with exceptional quality. Each square is made of brick thick sturdy board. No sharp edges and cut very uniform. Using faces is also a great idea, I myself am pretty bad remembering faces and names, hopefully my kids will pick up more than just simply pairing them. Discerning subtle differences on faces like hair, face shapes, eyes, noses, may help them to be more focused on details (and hopefully help them to remember real people faces).
I usually don't care much about this kind of toys - I mean, if they lose pieces or damage, like a throw away or garage sale item for next year. But the way it was made, it makes me want to take care of it more or pass it on to someone else.
Very educational
What's great about this game is that it raises the awareness of other cultures for chidren at a very young age! I wish I would have had this when I was a lil girl!

My daughter (9 years old) asked (and received) this kit for her birthday. After reading the reviews and some complaints about how messy the kit was, I was very nervous to actually do it once we got it. But, while it is a *little* messy, it’s not nearly as bad as I was expecting. The food coloring does make it MORE messy – so if you’re nervous, start with one of the recipes that doesn’t need coloring (or just skip that ingredient! At least for the first batch) She and a friend did this (with my help) and had a blast. They were so proud of their creations and even had fun trying to invent their own names for their gum. The flavor of the gum goes pretty quickly when you’re chewing it (and the jury is still out on how well it “keeps”) but I think all that is secondary to the actual fun in CREATING your own gum. They loved it.

Love it!!! so much fun
It was so much fun... My 9 yr old got it for his birthday through amazon and we just loved making the different flavors. We both like it SOUR!!! and you can make them as sweet or sour as you want. Great gift. Messy, but fun!!!
Gum Kit
I bought this for my grandchildren, ages 12 and 9. They just opened it today and made some gum under their father's supervision. According to him, they followed the directions and had no problems - and they had fun doing it.
Super Messy Fun
This kit is fun, but could be too difficult for kids under age 10. We made some gum tonight with my daughter and her friend, who are both 10. The flavor turned out good, but the whole process takes about 20-30 minutes, which is a lot longer than I expected for a few pieces of gum. Overall, it's a nice kit and is fun for kids age 10+.

I bought this as an introduction to science for my grandsons. They had a lot of fun making the gum. The only down side is that the flavor didn't last as long as they would have liked.

This toy provides challenge and some responsibility for my almost 4 year old son. It’s amazing so see him take such good care of it. He has a two year old brother so it has to be kept out of his reach, making it even more appealing I believe. He will sit and play with this for ages, all by himself, which in no small feat for my very social son. So I’m sold on it, it’s fantastic, and fun for us to play together as well. He got the Pirate Island Super Set along with it and the pieces compliment each other and add to the fun. One of the best features is that all the pieces (from both sets) fit nicely inside, making keeping it all together easier and believe me there are very very small pieces.

So much fun, we play it together

Fun for boys and girls of all ages :)
My nephew is four and my daughter is two. They both have the Pirates' Take Along Island. This is a really fun set - the treasure chest has a sliding lock so the little coins can be placed inside and not lost. The cannon really fires. The pirates are cute and don't seem to mind sharing their island with other Playmobil people. There's a little rowboat and oars and a skeleton that glows in the dark. Lots of fun stuff! Obviously the little tiny pieces should be put up if your child still puts things in his/her mouth that he/she shouldn't, but there are plenty of big parts that can be played with safely. No one's gonna choke on a row-boat. One would hope.
My son loves it
My 6 year old plays with this for hours. I love that all the pieces can be stored in the island and he can take it along to grandma's house... or actually clean up his toys. I am a fan of playmobile and the quality. My son likes the shelves for hiding treasure chests. Great imagination builder....
Playmobil Carry Along Island
Playmobil has a great thing in these play sets. They have some TINY little parts, but do pay attention to details, and my boys (4 & 7) simply LOVE these and will play with them for hours! We have several of the sets now, and they want more. They have had more fun with these sets than with any other play set we have ever found, and I am very happy.
This case is a bit tricky for my 4 year old to put together, so that is a bummer, but otherwise it is great!
Great for boys!
My son got this for his 5th birthday last January and I've been very surprised at how much it gets played with. He and his 3 yr old brother will play with this and their pirate ship for a couple hours at a time, quite regularly. The pieces are very small, so it only gets played with when the baby is napping, but we like how all the pieces fit into the carrying case -- which closes very tightly and the little one cannot get it open. We are planning on purchasing more Playmobil pirate sets for Christmas this year, we are very happy with this purchase.

This is a wonderful toy… my daughter has had hours and hours of fun. she learns to stack blocks, learn her letters she even can pull and push the cart to work on her motor skills.

Small, but nice.
This is a good quality set of blocks, The blocks are kind of small, i seen larger blocks in a wagon for about the same price at wal-mart, but overall they are nice and our son likes them.

My granddaughter loves the blocks and pulls the wagon everywhere.

Cute design
My daughter loves the little wagon the blocks come in. I don't necessarily like the way they placed all of the letters (certain letters always have other certain letters on the same block making it difficult to spell certain words) but they're still lots of fun.
wood alphabet blocks
I got these blocks for my grandaughter, she is 14 mths, so she really likes taking them out of the tray, but she will like them as she gets older. They will be very durable, and educational.

This is another great product from Melissa and Doug. I bought this for my son who is 22 months old and he LOVES that all the pieces make noises. The only thing that is weird is that the puzzle noises sometimes go off by themselves… creepy!!! Definitely a great buy.

one of the most annoying toys yet.
Do not buy this toy as a gift for some one unless you love them and it's a joke or you seriously hate them. We got this toy as a present and we officially give it our worst toy yet award. There is no on/off switch or volume control. It has light sensors to make the noises so you simply have to cover a sensor and it will make noise. So you don't have to get the correct piece in the correct place to get the noise reward. And if a noise is already playing it won't sense any other pieces until the noise is done. Finally and this is the worst part... it makes noises even if you aren't playing with it. Walk past it and block enough light and it will be set off. And our favorite if you turn the lights in the room on or off it will sound. Just great you get your kids asleep and you try and turn off the lights and the siren goes off loudly. Great idea for a toy, but poorly executed. We can't wait until the batteries die.

Worst designed toy ever
This has to be the worst designed toy ever created. While our toddler enjoys putting the pieces in, the way the pieces trigger sounds is poorly designed. It works by sensing a change in light, so as the piece is moved over the light sensor, the sound goes off. Well, the sounds are also triggered when you turn the lights out in a room, and when you flip over the puzzle. It's really annoying when you're putting your toddler to sleep and you turn off the lights and you hear the firetruck sound. Melissa and Doug need to redesign this puzzle so that only the puzzle pieces set off the sounds, not ambient light sources.
Holds toddlers attention
This puzzle entertains and captivates my toddler, and the sounds are not irritating in the way so many toys with sounds can be. I recommend this puzzle to anyone with a small child that likes vehicles and/or enoys puzzles.

This dragon is stunning. I have yet to see a photo which accurately captures the vibrant, silky coloring. The body of the dragon is made of a velvety fabric, which just shimmers with color. The jade blue is brilliant and has that magical quality fantasy creatures evoke in our imaginations. I have actually purchased all of the dragons in this collection, there is a Ruby Dragon, a Topaz Dragon and one called the Flashing Sword Dragon. They all have royal coloring, irridescent “foil” type fabric on the wings and really nice quality stitching. Though they are plush toys, I’ve positioned them for display as one might a dragon figurine collection. But I’m sure they would be just as loved as a child’s toy, because the fabrics are so touchable.

Beautiful Dragon
I came across this Dragon by accident when I was buying a sword for my 9 yr old boy for Christmas. I thought it would be great to go along with the sword(He could play Dragonslayer) I also bought the gold dragon and the red dragon. They are all absolutely gorgeous. I have only one question. Where were these when I was a kid ? I would also say that these are so gorgeous that they will be displayed on a shelf when not being played with, (That is if I can pry them out of my son's arms !)
A new best friend
My son adores this dragon. We bought it to go with his Knight in Shining Armor Halloween costume and it hasn't left his side since it came out of the box. The construction is good. The fabric is better than plush. Pictures do not do this stuffed toy justice.

I ordered the Jade Blue dragon for my 4 year old son. It arrived quickly and my son loved it! It is the perfect size for a cuddle toy yet also nice enough for a collectors item. It is the prettiest blue/green color and very soft to the touch. It's belly, wings and toes are made of a smooth material to add some different textures. I highly recommend this dragon! I will be purchasing either the red or gold one next.
The Stuffed Jade Blue Dragon
The Stuffed Jade Blue Dragon was purchased to be used in an exhibit we were creating for a Motorcycle Show. The exhibit needed a dragon that resembled Saphira from the movie Eragon. After searching the web The Jade Blue Dragon was just perfect in color and looks. The only way it would have been better was for it to be larger than it was. I was very pleased with my purchase.

I was happy with this product over all. The design on it and none of the blocks were rough or had any edges that felt like it might come apart and leave slivers in the skin. That was my main concern besides my boys throwing them at each other. I have twins that are two years of age and they love these blocks. I felt the price was decent for the quality and quantity plus i couldnt find anything like this in stores, I had been searching for anything they could build with that wasnt small enough to put in there mouths and the huge lego sets come with like 6 large pieces and to buy two of them would be pricey and the pieces wouldnt be enough to satisfy my two boys cause they would fight over them. So over all i personally love this item and it comes in handy for me cause there is enough for the two of my boys to play with together and it helps them learn to balance and stack pieces as they grow cause this kind of toy can stick with them over the years unlike many others.

My 4 and 2yos love these!
Great purchase. We've built a town for Polly Pocket and friends. :) The 2yo like to build and tear down... my 4yo plays and plays and plays. It's great!
Also, I imagine that later on we will want another set, but this quantity is enough for now. We combine them with a smaller set of unit blocks (16 pieces) and it's enough for us.
Love them!
We've had these blocks nearly a year, and they are a huge hit with both of my kids! They are slightly heavy if you were to try and carry the entire box of them around the house, but the wooden box they come in is great for storage, and sturdy also. My only 'complaint' is that with the kids getting older (and 3 of them!) we may need to purchase another set sometime. They are super durable too...highly recommend them!
Great for all ages
I purchased these blocks for my Sons birthday. I had a homemade set when I was young so I was concerned about the quality and durability of the wood. After inspection I was very impressed with the quality and these were even better! I think Dad(me)might have just as much fun with these as son ;-)

These were a gift for my son who enjoys building with any kind of blocks. These are very nice blocks that stack easily. The box is heavy they are stored in, but you have to expect that since the blocks are so large. Overall, we love these blocks and would recommend them to anyone who has a child who likes to build.

Contains LEAD- Potentially toxic for your child!
I bought two of the Melissa and Doug puzzles and decided to test them for lead before letting my 9 month old chew on the pieces. This type of puzzle came up POSITIVE FOR LEAD using Lead Check swabs! I would rethink buying one of these as lead exposure has been linked to numerous health problems. This company claims to offer safe, non-toxic toys that they rigorously test for the presence of chemicals. I was initially glad to find toys made from "wood" rather than the usual plastic. After finding lead in this puzzle meant for toddlers, I am appalled at how little we actually know as consumers in this country. Please do not give this puzzle to any child! Who knows how many other Melissa and Doug products contain the same materials... they have certainly lost a customer in me!

I purchased this for my son's 1st birthday several months ago. He loves to throw the peices around or hand them to me to tell him the names of the animals and make the sounds. He's just now starting to put the peices back in and I know it will still be a while before he's doing it on his own so we've still got a lot more playing to do.
